RICKY PARKS
“Can I ask your name, sweetie?” I asked a young girl I met at Parade Ground in Brooklyn. She shyly giggled and hid her body behind her father. Her father looked at the girl and was quiet.
I asked him, “Can I film your daughter running around in the playground?” He nodded his head without voice. The young girl was hanging out with other kids, and she pointed out another young girl and said, “She is my sister.”
I filmed two girls and other kids in the playground for a while. It’s always fun to watch the kids giggling, talking and chasing each other for no reason.
A little while later, their father walked closer to me and started talking to me. We had a talk. His name is Ricky Parks. He asked me who I am. I told him I’m a student from South Korea. Ricky said he often brings his two daughters to this park. We ended up talking all evening and exchanging our numbers. Later, he told me a story about his wife who passed away from COVID-19, Brianna Parks.
